Happy 2015! What is there to report about our two peas in a pod? Well, loads but most notably this week both Nick and Simon decided to do press for the upcoming War Child charity show in London later this month. Simon was in the UK Metro Newspaper
on 2\6\15. Oh my, how he's grown! (both taller than a house and Boy George, by the looks of it...). The interesting information from this article was that Duran Duran currently are unsigned without a record deal. Sounds like the album could take longer for release even when it's in the can. But, not to worry! Nick Rhodes has decided not to mention it in his new interview from 2\6\15, sticking to the topic of internet saturation with new bands trying to catch a break. He has a good point about the importance of new acts appearing live here http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/celebrity-news/duran-duran-star-nick-rhodes-its-hard-to-find-real-talent-online-10027939.html
Speaking again about War Child, Glamour Tiger Baby Junkie has donated twice to this charity with double the chance to win tickets to Duran's live show. Not going to cry, if we don't win as our money went to a good cause.
Please remember to view our YouTube GTBJ playlist at the bottom of the page, suggest a video, send a photo, etc. We thank you.

Thank you all for waiting since October 2012 for this blog to be updated. Yes, it is assumed that you have been waiting for Simon and Nick news in whatever form GTBJ is prepared to hand it to you, for the last 3 1/2 months, so thanks again!!!

IMPORTANT PAGE UPDATE - the Glamour Tiger Baby Junkie YouTube Player has been completely reloaded with about 20 additional videos to view again and again. Please bring the popcorn to the bottom of this page and enjoy the selections.

On February 5th, 2013 our Simon Le Bon happily went out of the house and went to Annabel's nightclub in London. Little did he know what an uproar and a hootenanny this would cause...(picture via Splash News)

Indeed, Simon, who has always possessed a strong character to do as he pleases without regret has done just that and pushed the envelope with his facial hair. Many fans of his feel different ways about his looks and are happy to share the feelings with others both positive and negitive. It seems like the with the amount of press coverage focused on the Handlebar Mustache everyone has got a wisecrack  to contribute. Sadly, we are all having fun at Simon's expense, but at the age of 54, he does know what fashion is by now and cannot be surprised people are humourously talking about this. Maybe, he's even delighted and positive by the reactions, so more power to him!

On the other hand....

Self expression, GTBJ is all for it, BUT it doesn't mean we have to make copies of this photo and display it in the living room. Here's a nice MODERN example that would be of consideration...(picture via Tatler)
A comforting thought is that he probably will change his look again if the band decide to tour later this year. Luckily, lip hair does not change his voice at all. Thank goodness for that!

...AND THEN THERE'S NICK... view this link here TV Mania News if you want to find out more about the side project that is finally going to be released in March after a 18...yearish shelving.

Hello, I haven't updated this blog in ages. At the moment you may find me on You Tube or Second Life. Since the last blog I believe I have been to three Duran Duran concerts and a Tigger Taylor(you know who I mean) book signing that enjoyed very much but cannot mention too much about here for obvious reasons. This photo is one that I snapped at the O2 in December 2011. This concert was postponed from the Summer of 2011 as Simon was having problems with his voice. I was not able to attend the original date myself and had been looking forward to this show which did not disappoint. A Diamond In The Mind DVD is similar to this show so hopefully you have seen it on Blu Ray. This summer, as the recent tour in America was about to come to a close, Nick Rhodes did something that is probably extremely rare-he got sick and couldn't go on stage(Doctor's Orders). If I got money everytime a show was cancelled due to a band member, I would go with Simon if I wanted enough to buy some new outfits(to be fair, Simon get sick about once every 10 years). My point is the band usually will go on stage no matter what. Everybody is well now! Hope you are looking forward to the new album news next year! see yah around. Ps. please credit if you use the photo.

Lovebox

Here was the Duran Duran review I gave within my Lovebox Festival review from http://popnylon.blogspot.com/

Duran Duran's set was slightly shorter than two nights prior due to sharing the bill with the other acts. Simon Le Bon comes out wearing a top hat and Nick Rhodes had his walking stick due to a leg injury(They reminded me of Charles Dicken's characters). The opening song was "Wild Boys" followed soon by "Hold Back The Rain." The sound was perfect as Le Bon didn't forget any lyrics. Most of the audience sang along to most of the hits and as a good surprise, the band wound up playing Arcadia's Election Day. The set was very smooth without much incident for a nice change. By the end, the "Special Guest" Mark Ronson, who is producing their next album, came out to join in for a new arrangement of "A View To A Kill." Ronson's smugness suggested he demanded some respect which I don't really think he deserves at this point. While the song was great with an intro featuring a complementing string section, the sound levels of the brass section drowned out Le Bon at times, but his white dinner jacket assisted to bring the attention back to him. All in all a great performance with a few minor complaints not worth dwelling about.
Reporting for this website, I'd have to add that Election Day had a great arrangement. I'm unsure if the Chauffer was heard at other shows but this was the Simon/Nick moment of the night along with Roger on Drums(who did play on the 1985 Arcadia album and briefly did some print PR but didn't appear in the music videos).

My camera decided that this was the time to die on me! However, I did get to take a few pictures and videos. http://www.youtube.com/magicmeri

Updates-Simon turned 50

Dear Friends, my little page that nobody reads will still be here and from time to time I will update with news and peanut gallery comments ....

First here is a newsbit I found in the free press("free press" as in newspapers I didn't pay for, because they are actually free)

29 October, From The London Newspaper-page 20"We Hear That....* Simon Le Bon rocked his 50th birthday party with wife Yasmin (inset)-(tiny picture shown of both)-at new members club Moulton in Mayfair. The extravagantly designed venue opens on 19 November, we can't wait.

One of my friends from Italy started her own message board for Simon and Nick. I totally support it(I just had nothing to do with it) and I've joined it- http://http://simonnickduran.forumfree.net/

I'm considering asking to be one of its moderators, but I think I'll wait until the board pics up some more members. If you don't speak Italian, don't worry its bilingual(that's correct- Italian and Duranese) and everyone can join in. I look forward to seeing the library of Simon and Nick pics and info that will be stored

And so Duran Duran soon will continue a mini tour in North and South America to round out the year and finally quit touring in support of Red Carpet Massacre. In addition a DVD version of the making of Rio will be availible to most everyone by November. Maybe I'll review it for a future blog...watch this space...

3rd row and no camera!?!?

May 30st 2008 Photo By Cupcakethecat (thank you)

What was I thinking? I attended the first night of two central park Duran Duran shows (the one where it didn't rain). Unfortunately, I didn't think I could enjoy the concert holding on to a camera. I also thought I wouldn't get close enough since I arrived late, but then I found myself looking away from Anna Ross and John Taylor(no offense) because I had a nice view of the keyboards and Simon's coughing fit.

Looking back, no camera was fine by me. This show was one of the best I have seen in awhile. Also, listening to how the USA tour started out in Seattle, this performance was very polished and lots of fun. Plus, I could see!!!! For a change! (no, I'm not bitter with
VIP, I just can't and won't do it).

Not sure when I'll ever be able to see the band live again, but if this is the final time I attend a show this would be one of the best.
